I'm constantly asked by people how to lose weight. The real goal, I tell them, should be FAT LOSS, not weight loss. This page seeks to help those trying to look and feel better about their bodies understand EXACTLY how I think and what I do.

First Things First
There really isn't any magic to losing weight. If your body expends (uses) energy (primarily glucose from carbohydrates) at a rate that is higher than your consume it, you will lost weight.
LOSING FAT is a little more tricky. Your body must run out of energy (again, glucose from carbohydrates) before it taps into long-term stored energy, namely bodyfat.
In order to do that, you can approach it in one of two ways:
- You could starve yourself or go on one of those trendy no-sugar, no-carb, or keto diets. This will immediately stop the consumption of short-term energy, forcing your body to eventually begin converting body fat. I don't suggest doing this for many reasons.
- Adopt strategies and habits that permanently change the average levels of energy in your body, while through exercise and intermittent fasting, allow for periods of fat oxidation.
Smaller Eating Windows
I operate under the second strategy. I believe the easiest way to reduce carbohydrate intake is to reduce how often you eat. People call this method "Intermittent Fasting," but I just say it's a reduction in our permanent "eating windows."
Before you sigh or raise your eyebrow I want you to consider for a moment that for most of our existence, human beings have fasted. Befoere we had fast-food or microwaves or even refrigerators and supermarkets, human beings had to hunt and gather their food every day. So by nature of how the world was constructed, human beings were limited to when and how they ate.
My mindset is simply to put my body in a state similar to the one it was designed to be in.
Physical Demands Different
However, I know we don't live in the 1800s or 1700s. And we do want our bodies to look good Specifically, we want to manipulate our bodies in ways our ancestors never thought about. Our ancestors didn't care about 6-pack abs, round and firm butts, nice legs, or big biceps. We do. And let's be honest: we still want to enjoy the occasional donut and some pizza now and then. So, even though my eating window is roughly:
3:00 pm - 10:00 pm
and I normally limit my carbs tremendously early in the week, slacking off a bit (allowing more) later in the week and on weekends, but occasionally deviate from that. Below are the things I suggest taking every morning to ensure you are getting essential vitamins and minerals and also protect against muscle deprivation and other ill effects from running out of temporary (glucose) energy.

Exogenous Ketones
When the body runs out of glucose energy (as will happen when you eliminate or reduce the consumption of carbohydrates), it begins to convert body fat into usable energy in the way of what's called ketone bodies.
Because there is lag time between running out of glucose energy and the body's creation of fat energy, the body has no energy for a period of time. This will produce side effects such as tiredness and lack of concentration.
